From May 18 to 22, 2024, the largest event in the field of intellectual property took place in Atlanta, USA—the 136th Annual Conference of the International Trademark Association (INTA Annual Meeting).
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a global organization of companies owning trademarks and firms that support and promote trademarks and intellectual property as components of fair and effective global commerce.
The Association was founded in the USA in 1878 by 17 trading and manufacturing companies and has gradually evolved into a global community with members worldwide and offices in many regions. Currently, it unites 6,400 organizations from 181 jurisdictions and approximately 36,000 professionals.
The annual international conferences are held to discuss issues and share experiences related to the protection of intellectual property, primarily trademarks. Locations are chosen strategically—conferences are held in large cities with high business activity.
This year’s conference took place in Atlanta, where one of the world’s most famous trade secrets—Coca-Cola—originated. The event gathered around 10,000 participants from 140 countries, making it the largest gathering of brand owners and intellectual property specialists worldwide and a valuable platform for collaboration and exchange of experience.
Ukraine was represented by more than 20 experienced patent attorneys and lawyers. The Ukrainian delegation informed the conference participants about Ukraine, emphasizing that despite Russian military aggression, our businesses and non-profit organizations continue to operate, the patent office continues to examine applications, and IP professionals provide registration and protection services for intellectual property to domestic and foreign clients. Our company was represented by managing partner, lawyer, and patent attorney, Nataliya Lemeshchuk.
INTA is an excellent opportunity to expand cooperation in geography with colleagues, discuss current issues in the field of intellectual property, and learn about the experiences of other professionals.
The next annual INTA conference will take place in 2025, also in the USA – in San Diego.
